Information Highway Blind Spots

blindAvoid the Search Engine Danger Zones

The Internet is an information warehouse and with more than 100 billion pages online it's not that easy to track down the pages that contain information that is no longer relevant and even more difficult to get it removed.

Operating an MLM business online is an excellent way to generate leads to prospects, and convert them to sales, but as you organize your website here are some of the search engine danger zones that you need to take care to avoid.

1. Failing to research and use keywords effectively.
At the top of the list are your keywords, this provides the information that links your prospect to your product or service and it is the most critical area of site design. With the keywords that are most closely related to your service or product potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong keywords and your site will be lost in the back pages of the search engine results.

2. Failing to check for page errors or broken links regularly.
When your webpage contains errors, broken links and missing graphics, not only does it take away from the credibility of your website, it affects your MLM sales and your search engine ranking. Make sure that your webpages "validate" or are error free when you first launch your website and test them regularly for problems.

3. Treating all search engines the same.
Each search engine has its own set of rules and regulations. Be sure to check the terms and conditions of each search engine for websites before you submit your pages to ensure the highest level of traffic.

4. Using keyword stacking or stuffing.
Choosing your keywords and using them with the proper density or ratio to the other content is important. If you use the same keywords over and over again in the same page of text your website can be dropped from the index.

5. Using hidden or tiny text.
Search engines will penalize websites who use invisible or extremely small text to add dozens of keywords that the visitor cannot see.

6. Duplicating pages from other websites.
Copying the content of another website word for word is called plagiarism and a violation of the original website operator's copyright. The search engines are now equipped to detect duplicate content and this can also cause you to be dropped from the search engine index.

7. Using unrelated keywords.
If your MLM product is computer software, then your keywords should not be "money loan" or any other popular search term. Using incorrect keyword prevents your prospects from finding your website.

Follow the "best practices" of the search engine to keep your MLM business website on track to generating the sales leads that your want and free of the headaches the seven items above detail.
